I sometimes freeze time. My mind stops reacting to my surroundings and I just wonder how my Love and I have made it to this point. We may be mid conversation and half way down the road, holding hands, talking about the future or bills and work, and my mind just freezes and time stops for a few seconds. Then I just wonder, how did I get so lucky.
I would consider the following a significant statement. In one month I will be getting married.
An event like this is not ordinary to an individual. While marriage is a regular event in the world and we all have been exposed to the concept, it seems a bit surreal when you get close to it. Surreal may even be a bit vague at this point. Wonderful is more like it, as in filled with wonder.
So how did I get to this? How did I travel across the ocean and the across the continent and stumble into someone that I will ultimately spend eternity with? How does anyone do that?
Do we let the fates decide what we are destined for? Do we just waltz around with them until they place us where seems them appropriate? Perhaps there is something a bit more compelling than fate? Perhaps that something could be choice. Perhaps there is some creativity in there as well. Maybe we are fortunate enough to allow ourselves the opportunity to have some fun and fall in love. Or maybe we stumble into someone that has been waiting for us. And maybe that someone had no idea they were waiting for you, and maybe you had no idea that you were being waited for.
Maybe someone keeps an eye out and points us in the right direction.

My way of processing the emotions of getting married was to cry at everything. Just everything -- including when I heard Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This," which has got to be the cheesiest thing of all time.
